On Friday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 8, the Wartburg Women’s Basketball team hosted their 6th annual Wartburg Tipoff Tournament. This opening season tournament includes four teams: Luther College Norse, John Hopkins University Bluejays, Knox College Prairie Fire and the Wartburg College Knights.

On Friday, the No. 14 Knights defeated Knox College 84-61, which was led by a 27-point debut from freshman forward Katie Boulanger of Wartburg. The Knights now lead the all-time series against the Prairie Fire 3-0, and this game marked their first win of the 2025-26 season.

On top of her 27 points, Boulanger also helped the Knights to their first victory with four steals and three rebounds. Other top contributors included third-year Grace Hennessy with fourteen points and four blocks and second-year Emma Townsley with six points, eight assists and seven steals.

On Saturday, No. 8/10 John Hopkins took home the victory against the No. 14 Wartburg Knights 70-49. This top-15 nationally ranked matchup was also the first time these two programs have played against each other, and the first home loss for the Knights since Dec. 30, 2023.

During the first two minutes of play, both defenses did not allow any points until free-throw shots were made, proving how aggressively both teams were playing. The top performers for this game were Hennessy with eighteen points and three rebounds, Boulanger with ten points and six rebounds and first-year Reagan Pagniano with five points, three rebounds and three assists.

The No. 14 Wartburg Knights, now 1-3 after this past weekend’s losses to DePauw University and Wisconsin Lutheran College, will continue their season this upcoming weekend in Waukesha, Wisconsin against Carroll University at 2 p.m.
