Vogel Library is designed to provide a view of the snowy landscape during winter and offer an indoor study space to maintain healthy study habits. The latest additions to this space can be found on the second-floor study area, next to the bicycle desks: walking desks.
At the end of the 2024-25 academic year, Wartburg’s student body president and the Vogel Library staff worked together to secure the new walking desks for the library.
These walking desks were purchased under the leadership of 2024-25 Student Body President Alex Crawford as part of the rolling campus feedback and improvement program.
“Working with the Student Senate was a very smooth process,” said Sarah Voels, director of Vogel Library. “The Student Senate and Alex did most of the legwork finding the desks, and then Tony Russell, our maintenance worker, put them together. We are grateful for his work as well.”
Voels said that the desks have already been useful in a variety of ways, proving to be beneficial to both students and staff.
“I have used them while I’m preparing for a class,” she said. “I’ve developed PowerPoints on the desks, and I see folks doing some reading for class while getting a few steps in.”
The Student Senate and Vogel Library staff share the same mission of campus and student improvement, and Voels encourages everyone to visit the Vogel Library during its regular hours and check out the Student Senate’s latest addition to the space. Voels also highlighted the open-mindedness of the staff to new ideas and encouraged students to submit their ideas to the Student Senate.
