The Waverly Chamber Music Series (WCMS) opening night of the 2025-26 season is set for Sunday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church & School. Featuring the Lux String Quartet, admission is free and open to all.
Known for their innovative programming, the Lux Quartet has a stock of 20th and 21st century music, as well as current composers such as David Evan Thomas and David Ludwig, Julliard’s Dean of Music.
The Lux Quartet, based in the Twin Cities, holds a dynamic edge in education and performance. Since its founding in 2013, the ensemble captivates audiences in concert halls, churches, coffee shops and even during appearances on podcasts.
The Lux Quartet has collaborated with a number of artists. From choreographers to international composers, their reputation for creativity and artistry has taken the Lux Quartet to perform in series such as the Schubert Club Courtroom Concert Series, the Lakes Chamber Music Society and the Minnesota Marine Art Museum’s Music Among Friends.
In addition to their creative performances, the Lux Quartet is dedicated to music education through presenting recitals and workshops in schools and partnering with Schmitt Music to inspire the upcoming generation of musicians. Recently, the group earned First Prize at the Charleston International Music Competition, they also serve as a quartet-in-residence at the Colorado Chamber Music Institute.
Composed of four accomplished musicians, the Lux Quartet consists of Stephanie Skor (violin), Ellen Hacker (violin), Rosa Thompson-Vieira (cello) and Kirsti Petraborg (viola). Together, these artists bring an abundance of experience, collaboration and artistry to each performance.
